When Does my Car Need to be Waxed?
Wax protects your car's paint from the environment, prevents oxidization and enhances your car's look! The easiest way to tell if your car needs to be waxed is to do a water test. Pour some water on your cars hood and see if the water quickly beads up and runs off or if the water remains on the surface (no beading). You can also tell if your car needs wax if the paint color is dull, oxidized, or if the finish feels rough. You can see the notable difference in the picture here between a well waxed vehicle surface and one that is not.

How Often Should I Wax my Car?
The climate and weather conditions in your area play a big part in determining how often your car needs to be waxed. In the Seattle area it rains 42% of the year. Wet roads deposit a ton of grit and mud on your cars surface, the build up damages your cars finish. The sun is also highly damaging to your cars surface, causing your paint color to dull or oxidization. For the Seattle area it is recommended to have your car waxed every 6-12 months, before winter and before summer. If you are overdue for an auto detail book now!!

The Dangers of Drive Thru Car Washes!
The convenience of drive thru car washes is a great time saver but is it doing more harm than good? I understand it is time consuming to get out the bucket, hose, soap, and brush to wash your car yourself, but beware machine operated car wash facilities damage your car! At a drive thru car wash facility the pads and brushes that are washing your car have not been cleaned in who knows how long. Repeatedly scrubbing dirt, rocks, and grime off of hundreds of filthy cars collecting small particles along the way. Then as your car goes through, those pads scrape along your car scratching and ruining its finish. Which, is why so many cars have numerous scratches damaging their finish and dulling the color. While drive through car washes may be faster, in the end you are causing damage to your car. Next time take the time to wash your car yourself or if you don't have the time bring it over to Diamond Car Detailing, we will hand wash your car for ONLY $15!

The Truth Behind Tire Siping
Tire siping is the process of adding small slits to the tread of tires. Buying a tire that includes siping is the best thing you can do; siping increases traction and controls tire temperature. These two benefits help to keep you safer and prolong the lifetime of your tires. However, many tire centers (i.e. Les Schwab, Firestone) attempt to convince consumers to have after-market tires siped. Adding siping to an after-market tire is dangerous! The added siping will compromise the structural foundation of your tire making them more dangerous to drive on and decrease their longevity. The addition of siping to an after-market tire may void your tire warranty as well. The bottom line being siping an after-market tire costs you more upfront and in the long run when you have to replace your tires more often and is more dangerous to drive on putting yourself and others at risk. Make sure you buy tires that include siping they are worth the extra cost but DO NOT fall for the tire centers tricks of having after-market tires siped!
